Switzerland Days 1-3: Zurich, Interlaken, and Bern
After our much anticipated trip to Italy and Switzerland, Alex and I are enjoying recapping our trip and looking through photos. Here's our first leg of the trip....
We arrived in Zurich on Thursday after an overnight flight to London and then on to Zurich. We managed to stay alert long enough for a quick walk around Zurich and dinner at Zeughauskellar, a restaurant in an old armory. We could barely keep our eyes open that night and went to bed early.
On day two, Patrick rented a car for the four of us to travel to Interlaken, the city between lakes and surrounded by mountains. We took the tram up one mountain and enjoyed some beer and fantastic views. We traveled on to Bern from there, Switzerland's capital city. Bern, as well as Zurich, felt small enough to be manageable yet large enough to have excitement and a lot to do. We walked around the cobble streets, saw Einstein's old home, and ate dinner at Altes Tramdepot Restaurant & Brewery, an old train depot (dinners in repurposed buildings was the theme).
On our last day in Zurich, we checked out Pfister, a home store in the area where we bought some washcloths donned with a Pfister tag. :) We then headed downtown to tour the city. We had lunch on the lake followed by a visit to the Gestaltung Museum. We walked around some boutiques and markets, followed by a crepe dinner at the apartment thanks to Patrick and Sandra.
Next up: Italy!
