Learning to Mood Board
When we were expecting Theo, I loved perusing Pinterest for nursery picture and flipping through the Land of Nod catalog. I liked many things but wasn't sure how to narrow down a look. I also didn't want to take it too seriously. So we ended up with a room of things we like but a few things that were a little off, like our rug that was repurposed from our old living room as well as a few art pieces that were also leftover from previous apartments.
I'm now trying to practice mood boarding to see what goes and what doesn't. I've created this board and included things currently in Theo's room (his crib, changing table, lion poster, and space poster) and things I'd love to add. We love the Leslee Mitchell car series art, but I'm not sure if the lion poster fits in anymore.

I'd also like to address Theo's closet. Currently it has no door, and once the second baby is added to the mix, I'm sure it'll be become even more of a messy eyesore. I am thinking about painting the inside of the closet (maybe using the Benjamin Moore Misted Green left over from our kitchen cabinets) and using some nice felt bins to store items. I love these but unfortunately $100 a bin is not very budget friendly. So I've included an Ikea alternative on the mood board.
I've never been crazy about the rug we have in his room. It's a gray-ish blue and cream trellis rug. The blue is a little too muted, and the cream doesn't work well with the bright white of his crib, changing table, and wall trim. This green rug from Ikea would seemingly match well, though it is not adding much in size, and I also love that the rug we currently have is repurposed and free.
Tomorrow is an Ikea trip so we'll see how that goes. Bub #2 won't even be theoretically sleeping in this room with Theo until at least early fall (if that even works??) but it's fun to reimagine this as a shared boys' room.
